Blog # 5 Aaron Dixon Lecture

2-15-2013 Aaron Dixon spoke at King’s books in Tacoma, about his new book My People are rising: Memoir of a Black Panther party Captain.

I got some good images and even tried something new! 1 By 2 Formatting. Looks pretty good, I think!

Check it out, here on shoot 76.

Let me end, with some Head Banging Music, enjoy!

Blog  # 4  Crystal and James

Tuesday February the 12th, I headed to Seattle and met with Crystal of Greenwood to see if I could be one of her “ART Hangs”. She probably was not too impressed with me , as I shot 3 images of her  and only 1 of them turned out. I cannot seem to figure the problem that I have been experiencing with my D90. It seems to work whenever it feels like it.

I left Seattle and headed for Tacoma, met up with James of Tacoma and shot my first “Central School Portrait”. Hopefully, he might know a few more that attended the elementary school in the 1950s or 1960s. I found out that Central became an administration building starting in 1968 and not 1978 as I said in my last post. I got this information from a survey by Caroline Swope, which she did for the Tacoma Public School district in 2009.

Blog # 3 TAIP Signup

Just did my Signup for the Tacoma Artist Inititive Program. I will now start my Central School Portrait Project ! I need to find and photograph people that attended Central before its close in 1978. That is when it became the Central School administration building.
