Blog # 11 Misty

Aaniin ,

As usual, I am trying to catch up on my posts but, it is a losing proposition.

Shoot 89 is a Puyallup based artist that has a beautiful image. Misty Martin is a Northwest artist that creates a painted image that I call Photorealism. Misty prefers the term, Post modern realism.
Her work is very inspiring to me because it is the exact opposite of what I am attempting as a photographer. She creates a painting that looks like a photograph and I try to create a photograph that looks like a painting. Her paintings are very successful at achieving the look of realism and if I keep at it hopefully mine will someday hit what I am after.
Misty is represented by the Patricia Rovzar gallery in Seattle and Kirkland. In Tacoma, the        American Art Company features her work.

Here is some good old head banging music to view the images with.

Post # 10 Amtgard at Spanaway

Aaniin,

On September 1st, I attended a gathering of Medievalist’s at Spanaway Park. They are the “Shrouding  Mist” of the Kingdom of Northern Lights. Their Monarch is Faraque. I was invited to the weekly event by Debby, a maker of LARP garb. She will be making me clothing for my shoots, as soon as I can afford it.

Here is Mood Music for this post.

Blog # 9 2013 Tacoma Pride Festival

Aaniin,
I have just posted the 2013 Tacoma Pride Festival.  Shoot 87. I am now naming the LGBT events as   “Two Spirits”, more in line with my Native American view of the World.
This is my 3rd year photographing the event and poco a poco, I am meeting people in the Two Spirits world. I am looking forward to the 2013 Divas event at Tacoma’s AirPort Tavern.
I have a bunch of new shoots to put together and post so, I will close with some ROCKIN music.

Blog # 8 The Colville Shoots

Aaniin,

Well, back on track again. This Post is 3 ½ Months past the last one so I am still Way Behind on my Blog.
These 4 Shoots, 83, 84, 85 and 86 were all shot on the Colville Indian Res.
Buzzard was not happy, as he dumped the nice bowl of Chili Con Carne on me when I brought him something to eat from the wonderful Buffet.
I freaked when I left the Funeral of Lorraine because for some reason the memory card registered as empty. When I got back to Tacoma and loaded the images though, I was relieved because the 2 thousand plus images were there.
Lucille got me a new camera, so now I will be shooting 24 Megs instead of 12.
Let me close with some HotMusic from one of the Rockin-est Singers there is or was.

Blog # 7 five shoots 2 extended, 3 quick

Aaniin,

I do not know how many bloggers that I have heard say this but, I am way behind on my blog!

Shoot 78 was “James of Tacoma”. He was my first Central School Portrait. I did not get the Tacoma Artist’s Initiative Program grant that I had applied for so, I will need to raise the money needed to fund the dozen, 24x36 inch canvas prints that I hope to exhibit in 2014 some other way.

Shoot 79 was “Alec of Tupelo and Gabi of New York”. I got to view the beautiful art at their home. The works were a combination of collected images and Alec’s own creations. I did not get to see any of his last showing at B2 (pronounced B squared) in Tacoma because they were still at Gary and Deborah’s Gallery.

Shoot 80 was “Ron of Nisqually and Janet of Tacoma”. They are such a couple that I did not get any individual images. I asked Ron, if I could get some of him at the river and hopefully that will happen next time we get together. Ron is very important in my life because, he goes back to before I have memories. One story my Mom told me, was her and Ron’s Mom left us in a crib together with a German Sheppard guarding us while they went out for a root beer or something and when they returned, the dog would not let them in the apartment!

Shoot 81 was “Dr.Felts”. I did not ask where she was born. I will have to get that next time. She is helping to get me back to work at my Door to Door job.

Shoot 82 “Lucille of Coulee Dam”, my love and my Muse!

Let me end with music from one the Baddest Ass Kickers of all time, because when we were teenagers, Ron was him and I was James Bond.

Aaniin,

Saturday March 2, 2013 with the help of Jose of Monterey I took down my first Show.       Vision Quest 1 : Maiden Voyage. Take a look at Shoot 77. I recommend this opportunity for any artist or photographer that is just starting out.  As far as I know, IGA only offers this at their Tacoma store. If you are interested then visit their website and on the Navigation bar click More Pages then select Artist of the Month for details. If it looks like a go for you, contact Lizzy  and  she will set you up!
Thank You Lizzy and IGA for this great opportunity! It got me off the ground as an Artist/Photographer.
Here is some great music to view my show with. Herbie Hancock created this in, 19 and 65.

Blog  # 4  Crystal and James

Tuesday February the 12th, I headed to Seattle and met with Crystal of Greenwood to see if I could be one of her “ART Hangs”. She probably was not too impressed with me , as I shot 3 images of her  and only 1 of them turned out. I cannot seem to figure the problem that I have been experiencing with my D90. It seems to work whenever it feels like it.

I left Seattle and headed for Tacoma, met up with James of Tacoma and shot my first “Central School Portrait”. Hopefully, he might know a few more that attended the elementary school in the 1950s or 1960s. I found out that Central became an administration building starting in 1968 and not 1978 as I said in my last post. I got this information from a survey by Caroline Swope, which she did for the Tacoma Public School district in 2009.

Blog # 2 Dr. John Carlos and Alec Clayton

Just posted two new shoots from last week. Dr. John Carlos at his lecture at University of Puget Sound on his 1968 Olympic moment that helped to change race relation's on our planet, then on Thursday of last week, I photographed critic, artist and writer Alec Clayton as he had a reading from his latest novel Return to Freedom at King's Books on Tacoma's St. Helens street. The reading was done by five local actors and I did not get their names but, I heard Tacoma Little Theatre mentioned so if I get over there someday I think that I might be able to do more portraits with them.

This technology stuff is exploding my head but, "poquito y poquito" I am learning. I still have not hooked my photography website to my blog but, that is coming!

Hey!!! This Hillbilly just linked Dr. John Carlos and Alec Clayton's names to their websites using the link feature! Oh my Garcious, I am a Genius...or maybe this blogspot stuff just makes everything so easy.

I did the linking with a trick that a true Genius taught me when I crawled thur web development at Tacoma's Bates technical college . Andrew, is his name and when it comes to anything web deveopment he had the answer. I would not have made it thru the course without his help.

Blog # 1 Maiden Voyage

10:00 PM and I start my first post.
Although it was as easy as anyone could possibly hope for, it was still a chore for my limited computer skills.

Last Friday night, I attended the Artists Reception at B2 (pronounced B squared) Gallery at 7th and St. Helens in downTown Tacoma. I lucked out and managed a conversation with Alec Clayton and his Wife "Gabby", she told me that he will be having a book signing at Kings Books this Thursday and Alec said that I could add him to my growing list of Portraits.
